My new life in the Dominican Republic: a professional and personal dream come true

I am a woman who has always lived a life of determination and passion. A law graduate and passionate about communications and marketing, I have worked on various business ventures, always guided by the conviction that dreams aren't just pursued—they're built. For some time now, I have held the position of Deputy Director at CLERHP, and today my life is written from a place I never imagined would be my home: the Dominican Republic.

My story with Larimar City & Resort began long before I joined the team. I vividly remember my first conversation with its CEO, Juan Andrés Romero. He told me about this project with a look that combined excitement and determination. That spark in his eyes revealed to me that I wasn't looking at a simple real estate proposal, but rather a transformative vision: a city designed for happy people. It's not just an urban plan; it's a concept that combines modernity, well-being, and the unique charm of the Caribbean. His ability to bring impossible ideas to life convinced me that I wanted to be part of this adventure.

Making the decision to leave my beloved Murcia wasn't impulsive. I considered it with the caution of someone who knows that such a change affects not only their career, but also their family and their entire life. Last summer, we visited the Dominican Republic so my family could get a closer look at the place where I spent a good part of the year. The surprise was that my husband fell in love with the project as much as I did. Without needing to convince him, we began to visualize the possibility of moving together, and so, step by step, that dream became a reality. Today, we share this new phase with our children, discovering a country that welcomes us with open arms.

The biggest challenge has been learning to look forward without nostalgia, although I confess that saying goodbye to the people I care about in Spain wasn't easy. I've also had to adapt to everyday life: from taming my hair in this tropical climate to supporting my children in their adjustment process, which they experience as a great adventure. In return, each day presents me with scenes that only a few months ago existed only in my imagination: waking up in front of the Caribbean Sea, practicing yoga at dawn, working surrounded by a multicultural team, and ending the day enjoying a family afternoon by the pool or exploring the local flavors.

Although we share a language, I've discovered that words and expressions don't always mean the same thing. And beyond language, the biggest cultural difference is the pace of life. Here, as they say, "there's no rush." Everything flows differently, and life is lived with a different intensity. Time, which elsewhere seems to slip away, is savored here. It's a lesson I'm grateful for every day. Hospitality, moreover, is a trait that is felt from the first moment. The Dominican Republic is a welcoming land for people from all over the world, and our team combines more than fifteen nationalities, which enriches not only our work but also our personal lives.

I love discovering the local cuisine. I've already tried traditional Dominican dishes and continue to explore new ones. Tropical fruits have become my favorite: every bite is an explosion of color and freshness that I associate with this place. Of course, there are also things I miss about Spain, like the impromptu get-togethers with my friends, but I know they'll come visit. Here, I've gained something priceless: the daily proximity of my family and the feeling of belonging to a large professional family at Larimar City & Resort.

Working in a country like the Dominican Republic is an opportunity I would recommend to any professional looking to broaden their horizons. Its emerging economy, legal stability, and lack of a language barrier make it a very attractive destination. It's the fifth most powerful economy in Latin America and offers optimal conditions for investment and opening new businesses. I'm not surprised that several Spanish entrepreneurs have already taken the step of settling here.

The name of our project is no coincidence. Larimar, a precious stone unique to the Dominican Republic and recently recognized internationally, is a symbol of beauty and authenticity. Just as this gem must be contemplated to understand its value, our city must be experienced to understand its significance. Larimar City & Resort is, in itself, a jewel that unites the local soul and a global reach, capable of attracting both visitors seeking luxury and relaxation and residents seeking quality of life and affordable services.

Personally, I want to continue my education, take up sports again, and dedicate time to watercolors. I also plan to write a children's story that has been on my mind for years. This setting, with its calm and light, seems like the ideal place to make it a reality. Moving has been one of the most important changes in my life: leaving behind a familiar world to embrace a completely new one, full of challenges, learning, and opportunities. I'm convinced that this decision will mark a turning point, not only for my family and me, but also for thousands of people who, like us, choose to settle in the Dominican Republic each year and call it their new home.
